I usually go hiking every weekend, but most of the time I go to places in my area (coastal Gangwondo). I'd like to do a few hikes in some new areas this fall, so I'm looking for suggestions. I know everyone knows about Seoraksan, Jirisan, etc. but I'm looking for some hikes that are less popular with Koreans. I went hiking in Seoraksan a couple of years ago in the fall, and I was actually in a less popular part of the park (the northwestern section, in the Sibiseonnyeotang Valley) and although it was a nice hike, because of all the tour groups (who seem to be oblivious to everybody else) it felt like I was on a conveyor belt.
Anyways, I'd like to find some nice hikes that aren't overrun, so I'm hoping for suggestions up to 6-8 hours, preferably with public transport. National/provincial/city parks are all okay, as long as they're big enough that you can hike for at least a few hours. Nice waterfalls/lakes/rivers would be a bonus.

Thanks

Chiaksan in Wonju is a pretty good hike.

Not very popular amongst Koreans, can get to it a short cab ride away from Wonju station.
