Hi,
Basically I do not want to continue my contract at my private academy.I want to remain in Korea get a job in Seoul, currently in Ulsan.

My contract says I have to give 2 months notice, and pay back the flight which I don't have a problem with.

Will it be hard for me to get a job in Seoul after I have left my hog won without completing my contract?

Can anyone tell me the steps I need to go through to make this possible?

Thanks

Step 1 - read this board some more.
Step 2 - Do your own work!

Really your post means A HELL of a lot of work for the other posters. This post alone branches off into a ton of sub topics.

Some topics to research on.

1) Quitting a Hagwon.
a) Legalities like notification, paying back fees, etc
b) Realities. Do not expect a good response.
c) Should you quit properly or do a midnight run.
d) troubles and trials with soon to be ex employer from fired to blacklisted.
2) How to find a job in Korea.
a) How to write a resume and other things to finding an ESL job
1) Should you include your unfinished contract in experience.
b) How to look for a job.
i) Recruiters
ii) On your own.
c) job market situation in Korea
d) finding a job in Seoul/Busan/Big city (not always easy as you think)
e) What are you qualifications. What makes you special.
3) Immigration issues
a) visa cancellation
b) paperwork
i) Criminal record check. (You might need to get again)
ii) Verified degree (You might need to get again)
iii) Letter of Release. (This one is going to be hard to get.)
c) hassles and conflicts with past school concerning immigration
4) Housing and Moving Issues
a) finding a moving van
b) finding a temp place to stay
c) finding an emergency temp place to stay because boss kicked you out of apartment
d) finding a long term place to stay.
.
.
.
.
.

I am bored of this now. As I said you need to do a whole crap load of research and reading. So get started

Plus search the board to fine tune some topics. Using google and the phrase will help.

Why not try to find a new job first, then quit your current one?

Jobs in Seoul are at a premium, the competition is fierce. Do you have what it takes? Are you blue-eyed? Under 30? American? Female?

Seoul is swamped with casualties of the western recession. To get a job you may have to wait for months. And there is a fair chance it will be no better, or worse, than the one you're in now.

Jumping from job to job rarely improves your situation in Korea. The jobs here are all too similar. You're much better off staying where you are and working to improve your current situation.

Since you are already IN Korea ignore Nautilus's "you are doomed" advice.

Can you get a new job? Sure.

do like Skippy said.

Also, do you know other teachers in Korea (Korean or Foreign) who work at good schools in Seoul? If so, your first move (if not done already) has to be to contact them and ask if they know of an opening somewhere. You could be surprised at how well this works.

If you have the means, quit your current job and apply for jobs in Seoul, clearly stating you can attend interviews IN PERSON and are IN KOREA. That puts you at a significant advantage.

Good luck.

I would apply to jobs in Seoul first and see if you get much interest. Are you what schools are looking for or not?

If you are getting lots of job offers in Seoul, then your chances look good and I would recommend that you quit your current job.

If you are not getting much interest, then maybe it is not such a good idea? Maybe it's better to finish your year.
