Anyone ever heard of this place? It seems connected to Inha University which is a great school. I have a job interview for them next week and want to know more about them.
Thanks! |

Are you aware of the pay? I saw a flyer advertising an English teaching job at this place for 15,000 won per hour. That was for part time work. Are you going for full time? What is the salary? |

Ad says 2.5 mil per month for 10 hours a week. Sounds like a good deal. Check on the 2 year rule. I believe they have an employment limit. |

Are you confusing the university with the college? I re-checked the flyer: 3 hours per day, M-F, so 15 hours per week. That is less than a million won per month, right? (and no benefits) Not a great wage in my opinion. |

On flyers posted on the walls of buildings at Yonsei. I called the number and talked to a person on the phone. So yes, that is the salary. Also, a minimum of three years teaching experience is required in order to be considered for this job. |

I saw the ad on here on the job board.
http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=49719
Minimum Qualifications:
a. Native English speakers who have been educated in an English speaking country since high school.
b. Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year university with at least 2-years of documented teaching,
research, or industrial working experience.
c. TESOL, CELTA or a teaching license.
Working Conditions & Benefits:
a. Minimum Teaching : 10 hours per week (any teaching in excess of 10hours is paid as overtime.)
b. Annual Base Salary : Starting at KRW 30 million (excluding overtime.)
c. National Health Insurance
d. Housing Subsidy : KRW 200,000 per month or school accommodations
e. Private Korean Teachers Pension
You're right. It's the College not the University. I'm not sure of the rate of the overtime pay, vacation time, usual camps for winter/summer. Anyone have answers?
Question though:
They're hiring 4 people. Does anyone know if there was a mass layoff or just expanding? |

Looks like a decent job! The ad I saw was freelancing work from 7:00pm-10:00 M-F. Maybe it was teaching university students at non-credit classes and/or maybe a recruiter was taking a cut. The ad you posted looks much better than what I saw advertised. Good luck getting the job. (There will be hundreds of applicants.) |

thanks for the words of encouragement! much appreciated. 100's of applicants?! I've gotten the interview. I don't know if they're interviewing on MORE than just this Friday, but it seems there are 4 openings with a 15 min demo, 5 min Q and A then an interview. The schedule says there's only 4 and a half hours for this. My math says, without an interview, there would be a maximum of 12 people interviewing.
I have copies of lesson plan, resume, handout and my teaching philosophy for them. I think the lesson will go over well. What else should include besides having original documents? |

After the interview, plus teaching demo, the staff told me that indeed the teaching hours would be about 10-12 hours a week.. However, you must be at the college mon-fri from 9-6PM.... so... if this is a fact.. well its not worth it! |

It might just be something they say but not actually enforce throughout the whole semester. |

Can anyone confirm that you are required to perform office hours from 9-6 every day at Inha technical college? |

I know it's a fact of life, but I absolutely hate it when they advertise a 'minimum of X number of hours with overtime compensated at X per hour.' The long and short of it is that overtime pay is generally crap. They give all of their teachers a class or two 'overtime' and this alleviates the need to hire one more teacher. Uber cheesy. |
