Depends entirely on whether or not she is going to contest it.

| But seriously. Do you have your F5 yet? Try to pretend love until then. If not possible, move to Seoul if you don't already live there. Then you can file for divorce there. My friend got a divorce in a small town and the ex wife constantly b**^% and gossiped and harassed the court aids until they told the judge to give her her own way. Small town anti foriegn sentiment. Try to initiate it in Seoul. Be less possible for the ex to go physco. Also Seoul cops will be more professional if she's so inclined to go to the local cops and lie about you. My friend went to hell and back. But, he had his F5, so it all worked out in the end. |

Also make sure you don't have anything in her name or jointly owned. Get your name on things. Once the divorce goes through she owns it lock, stock, and barrel. |

| Damn that's cold. I wonder why people get married to those who they're not sure they want to be with in the first place. Care to shine some light, OP? |

Many reasons, but some of the more common ones from a male perspective are probably good sex, loneliness/depression, substance abuse, financial strain, or tax benefits. |

| On a related note, can anyone recommend a marriage counsellor, one that can meet over the phone or skype? |

yep, T-J is right, really depends on her, if she wants out too, then you both just have to go down to the court house and the judge will ask you guys why you want a divorce, then he might suggest a 3 month separation period which is now very common in Korea and then after the 3 months you return to the judge and if you both agree you want out he will issue you a divorce.
this is what I have heard happens, perhaps someone else can give more details. |

| Just move out and don't get a divorce. Would that do any harm? Once you have moved out and it's clear you won't be coming back then she will need the divorce more than you because she will need to move on and have kids with another fella. |

| I believe they changed the divorce law a year or two to require a 1 month cooling off period before they'll process the divorce. |

Vultures eh? Seriously the low-lifes that live in this country. If I ever got divorced I would certainly not stay. I would go home or go to China, Europe, hell, anywhere but here.
But the thing I'm curious about is if it's possible to divorce someone from outside the country. If you went home to Canada or the States or wherever, could you cancel the marriage from there and would be easier since it'd all be in English? |

Why wait? Planes leave every day. Do you need someone to help carry your stuff to the airport? |

Is it depressing being that guy who is constantly making lame jokes that no one laughs at? |
