|
|
I ordered some vitamins and peanut butter from iherb which, according to their website, shipped out ~3 weeks ago. I had it sent via USPS international airmail to my school, but unfortunately I've seen neither hide nor hair of it. Has anyone else had an order take this long? I'm starting to get concerned since from what I've read most orders take around 1-2 weeks to get here. Am I out 50 bucks or is there still hope? |

Hi Pumpkinstuffing-
Sorry to hear about the mystery. I can only speculate that the package may have been delayed or held in Korean customs. Have you contacted iHerb to see if there's any way they can track it or if they have any other advice? Their customer service is usually excellent.
Next time be sure to go for the KOREA POST DIRECT shipping option during checkout. It's fantastic. The cost is very low, and I have received three different packages delivered to my school in less than a week each. A fourth package took nine days. With the Korea Post Direct checkout option, you have to enter your Alien Registration Card number when it asks for "resident number" or something like that. This way, as long as it's not an especially big package, it will whiz through/by customs. It's amazing really.
I hope you'll be able to find your package.

Your mistake was to go with USPS. You should have gone with Korea Post. Most of my order took a week or LESS. Have you checked on the IHerb page or email receipt for a shipping/tracking number? |

Urgh yeah, I wasn't sure which to choose. There is of course an order number but no tracking for USPS international airmail. I contacted iherb earlier today and got this in reply:
"We apologize for the unusual delay in receiving your order. Unfortunately since International Airmail packages are not trackable we are unable to see the current status of your package. It is very possible that your package has been delayed by customs, had unforseen issues with your postal service, or has even been returned to us due to a problem with delivery. It is not unheard of for a package to take as much as 6 weeks to be delivered. We thank you for your patience. "
So I guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope it turns up :/ Thanks for the replies, clearly should have done a little more research before I ordered. |

I went home for the summer and ordered a few things from iherb just before I left Korea. They were sent by regular airmail because that was the only option available for my destination. Just over two months later, I'm back in Korea and the package still hasn't arrived. When I contacted iherb to let them know, they didn't even bother to reply. Terrible customer service, even if there's nothing they can do. |

Maybe if you contacted them in triplicate, they just might respond. |

Pumpkinstuffing: I usually get mine via Korean Postal. on 2 occasions it arrived within 5 days, and once it came only after 2 weeks.
For the delayed order, I suspect it's because I ordered a bunch of health supplements and that must've taken some time to clear, compared to the other orders without supplements.
Perhaps it's your vitamins that's taking time to clear.
And yes, the customer service sent me a similar canned reply about how orders may take up to 6 weeks to be delivered, and that they can't track once the shipment gets off the plane.
The Korean Postal option is fabulous - cheap (free for now!) and fast. |

Seems I spoke too soon - package was delivered to my school today! Box was a bit mangled but all the contents are fine. I'll definitely be going with Korean Postal in the future haha. |

Good to hear that it came.
Be sure to use the Korean Post option next time.... and, watch the cost of the purchase. I know they seem to flag things over $150(?) |

This is a good point.
Korea Post doesn't let you make any order over $105.
Over $105 and they won't ship it.
So any order you make through them will have to be under that.
However, be careful not to order two orders too closely together.
(that to, two, too was totally unintentional)
Korea Post will let you make any number of individual orders less than $105.
BUT...big but here, customs will charge you...if you have more than $150 worth of product go through customs in any 24 hour period.
I made one order, then another order 5 days later.
The first order somehow got delayed a few days....but the second order was wicked fast...so it ended up in customs in the same 24 hour period as the first one.
I had to pay $85 on the second package that went through....was pretty bummed out.
By the way...Korea Post is delivering for free now!
Any order over $80...free shipping.
This was the same this time last year.
I order all my heavy things now...in bulk.
There is a 15 lb limit with Korea Post.
But at 14.9 lbs...good to go.
And at 14 lbs...that usually costs upward of $25 in shipping.
Take advantage and pre-order your heavy things now...can save a bundle.
Glad to hear things worked out for you. |

You be awesome, Hum!
I was thinking of ordering two orders next month, and thought I'd just break it up a bit... now I know to put some distance in there. |

Okay, ordering some more stuff and had a quick question about using Korea Post - I see it says you need to provide a copy of your passport to customs? How does one go about that? Or can you just use your ARC number? |

Just use your ARC number.
You might need to send a scan or customs might give a call the first order.
Once you have done one or two, things will speed up. |
