|
|
My school has just recently decided to standardized all of their lesson plans and want all teachers to teach the exact same from for all of their classes. It is the most miserable lesson plan I've seen. I had this new manager that came to my class last week and essentially told me I wasn't a good teacher unless I teach this lesson plan. She didn't even like my voice. She is basically hired to micro manage all of our classes or at least mine. I am the only foreign teacher at my school but there are 30 others for the company I work for. She messaged me and said she wanted to see "progress" when she comes by next week. We lost 10 students after the last semester and I feel like I'm the person they are blaming so they're putting the iron fist down for my classes
Basically I am depressed about my future teaching for this program if I will not have any flexibility and am being micro managed. I only have worked there for 3 months and things have changed this drastically within a few days. Who knows what it will be like a month from now.
Any advice or teachers with similar past situations would be greatly appreciated. |

Ya but how does it work if I was to resign. I have only been there for 3 months and have read many different things about what happens if one resigns and getting the letter of release. |

You probably won't have to worry about quitting.
By the sound of things they probably already are thinking of
terminating you.
I'm not agreeing with their attitude, by the way.
That's just what it looks like to me. |

So if I was to get fired then what would my options be then? Being the only foreign teacher there, I have no idea what is going on there most of the time. The guy before me they fired as well but he never completed his books, came in noticeably hungover, and never was on time. He was there at least 6 months.
I don't know why so many students have left. I've taught for awhile and have never had this problem. Frustrating |

There could be a hundred or more reasons why students are leaving.
A new hagwon opened down the street or on the next block.
Who knows?
What is certain is that they WILL blame you regardless.
Don't take it personally, it just goes with the territory.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
It's been 3 years since I left Korea and by the sounds of things,
I'm lucky to have left when I did.
Best of luck with your next job. |

I thought there was a possibility the past few weeks I might get fired just based on all the people who have been at the school and the amount of stress that has been around there. The job was great in June when I started. Very good hours and I was allowed to make my own lessons. Students are difficult but no complaints then. Oh how things change.
The semester just started and ends in November so I think that's when I would be let go, maybe sooner. Ironically that's the same time when the school has to renew it's contract with the agency and that's no guarantee either if students keep leaving
I am just worried about finding a job assuming I do get fired. |
