I live in Namdong-gu. Guwol-dong is rather legit. We have pretty much everything and you get pretty much anywhere from here using public transit. I'm not so sure about the other parts of Namdong-gu. |

Namdong Gu covers quite a large part of Incheon, but has three main areas: Guwol dong, Mansoo dong, and Nonhyun dong. All of these areas have plenty of local amenities like gyms, bars, and restaurants, however Guwol dong is probably the most foreigner friendly, as it has a few foreign owned bars, and great access to public transport. Mansoo dong is close to Incheon Grand Park, and also has plenty of local amenities. It's not on a subway line yet (will be in 2 years time though) but does have lots of buses travelling through. It also has some great local restaurants. Nonhyun dong is a newer area, and is a little isolated from the rest of Incheon, however I do believe a subway line has just opened that joins up with the Incheon Line.
If you are in any of these areas, you'll have no trouble finding stuff you need. Just ask a co-worker to point you in the right direction. |

You can take a bus from Incheon Terminal in Guwol dong to hongdae in around and hour to an hour and a half depending on traffic. You could also take the subway, but it means changing at bupyeong and then again at Sindorim - this will take around the same time as the bus. |

I lived and worked in Namdong-gu. Mansu-dong, more specifically. If you are looking at a job offer to teach children for an academy that sounds like a cable news channel, strong recommendation to take nearly any other position, anywhere else in Korea. Mansu tends to be a lot of chicken hofs with people shouting their collective genitalia off between 2:00 and 4:00 on any given night. Guwol-dong was great, with a 4D and IMAX theater and a decent expat community. |
