|
|
I am trying to receive my pension as I am leaving Korea next week Wednesday. I am American and just talked with the people at the tax office and they told me the things I need to bring with me which included a bank/check book from my account in America that they will be sending the money to. I don't have that with me in Korea so what should I do? They told me I could make some account at KEB bank called an EZ1 and then it would be okay but I'm not really sure what they were talking about as we had communication troubles in English and Korean.
Any advice? Thank you. |

Can you get your parents or whoever to express ship you one of your voided checks? I assume you have a box of them at home. Time might be a bit tight though. A little planning could've spared you all this hassle. Not sure how having a KEB account would help you in the US though there is a branch in Los Angeles I believe.
I recently returned to the US myself. I was impressed that my pension refund was deposited into my account within one week after my return. |

It is easier for them if you have a blank check but it is not a requirement.
You need the bank account number, swift code, routing number, branch address and payee name on the account (usually not the same as your passport since most accounts don't use middle names).
As an alternative you can set up a foreign remittance account at KEB that will forward it to you but you still need the same information.

I had the same issue. I asked them if I could set up an account when I got back home and then send them the relevant info (account #, SWIFT code...etc)
That was fine. So I did that once I was back home and the money was deposited in the account about 10 days or so later after I e-mailed them the information. |
