At the moment, I'm in Korea looking for a job. In addition to contacting agencies, I'm planning to visit schools to see if they have any positions available. Since there are a lot of schools out there, and most of them aren't hiring, how do I do this efficiently? What kinds of schools/neighborhoods should I concentrate on? Which ones should I not even bother with? For what it's worth, my Korean is OK, but not great, so I think I'd get better results going to schools directly instead of calling them.

Do you have your documents? (Pretend I am a recruiter)

ME DON'T SPEAK FURTHER TILL YOU HAVE DOCUMENTS IN HAND.

(In my best interview voice) Yes, I have them all ready and with me.

There is nothing a recruiter can do for you until the documents are ready. Everybody knows this can take a long time. They can't hold jobs for you and lose money. There is just no way. Schools won't do it either.

Bit lazy and busy now.

One problem with walking in and applying is - the counter staff. When I walked into most places were either busy so no manager or head teacher to talk to sometimes. Before I can get to them, I had to deal with counter staff. Counter staff many times have limited or no English ability. So expect them to shurg shoulders or try and get rid of you.

Maybe more later.

The other OPS are correct unless you have paperwork ready, many schools will ignore you. So stress it when you apply. Let them now you are a simple hire. Plus they can save on recruiters fee and maybe even plane ticket.

Good Luck.

edited for stupid mistakes and too think I am an English teacher.

I got my second job this way.

Walk in, ask for someone that speaks English and give them your CV. wear a suit.

Worked for me. I had a job the same day

Good luck!
