(CBS News) Singer Andy Williams died at his home in Branson, Mo., on Tuesday after a year-long battle with bladder cancer, according to his publicist Paul Shefrin. He was 84.
Born in Wall Lake, Iowa, Williams launched a solo career in 1952 and had several hit singles, including his Oscar-winning rendition of "Moon River" from the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's."

A bit before my time(and that's saying something). I knew Moon River, but even that I became aware of fairly late in life. I'm not sure I even knew that he was the singer until I saw the obituary just now.
I think I recall hearing that he featured the young Osmonds on his show, back before Donny and Marie went solo.

I had seen him sing "Moon River' on TV when I was a kid. It never really ocurred to me that he might even have still been alive. Still, RIP.... |
