I searched extensively for this and didn't find any threads where it was neatly covered. I'm in the process now of getting my prints taken. I take it that the option of using a channeler from the FBI website is out of the question because the DOS won't apostille those. My local police station doesn't seem to be too interested taking my fingerprints. I'm going to also check my local courthouse and sherriff's office.
My main question is: when I mail all my items into the FBI, do I need anything besides the app form, money order, and finger print sheet, so that I will be able to get it apostilled? I know I have to write on the app form that someone please put a seal and signature on whatever paper they send me. Is there anything else I have to send to speed up the process of apostille? Any advice on finding a good way to get fingerprinted besides what I've said? |

In addition to what you are sending, I also included a couple of return (paid) envelopes so that I could have multiple copies sent back to me. This was last year, so I don't know if that has changed or not as a requirement.
In terms of fingerprinting, I printed out the fingerprint sheet from the FBI website and did it myself. Didn't run in to any problems, so that's another avenue if you choose to do so. |

Really you searched? You need to work on your google-fu skills man.

Most police stations should be able to fill your request for fingerprints. Are there not any LIVESCAN places near you. I think LIVESCAN is acceptable as they are just submitting the prints electronically to the FBI. Well if not do get two print sheets done, as all it takes to ruin you month is a smudged print.
Yes do add that extra note to have the seal and signature. so use a nice sticky note other a simple peace of paper with the details.
For apostille, I would recommend spending the money and using on the apostille services like rushdocs or apostille pros. It can mean the difference between weeks and days. If you sent directly to the Department of State in DC it will sit in a pile for a while. The services. Will walk the docs in and get them signed at the counter.
Another option to speeding up you check is calling your local congress critter and asking for them to expedite the check for you. Some of the threads talk about it. You may also consider *cough* *cough* at the same time asking for information on donating to your congress persons future campaigns. |

Thanks. What kind of extra envelopes did you send, large manilla, or regular letter envelopes? |

Thanks, and good search by the way, I guess I didn't use the right terms. I'll look into one of those apostille services, and I actually just got my prints taken today, it turned out being easier than I thought it would. |

I used regular letter envelopes and it wasn't a problem. |

Thanks. What do they do if you don't send the envelopes? I wouldn't have thought to include them but still would have expected them to mail me back the CRC. |
