I need to get out of the Philippines. There is no real money here. A great time yes but the pay is lousy. I've just about hit rock bottom with all my savings.
Thing is I don't want to work at a hagwan nor do I want any kind of public school.
Would a university be to my liking? I don't like dealing with giving grades and correcting papers. Ya know work like that. So I was thinking about a unigwan...less hours but I'm still on the university campus. I feel like I belong there for some reason.
If I bring my little lady along could she work in Korea? She is a Filipina. Now I know she aint gonna get no E-2 visa but what about if she can be a professor at a uni? Is this possible? What kind of credentials does she need (please be specific). Would they discriminate against her not only for being a Filipina but also because of her (young) age? |

Competition for university positions is fierce these days. Do you have really good qualifications? If not you might be sorely disappointed in your job prospects. Even the public school/hagwon market is getting really competitive.
Good luck on the job search. |

I do have an MA...I wont ever say from where but I have taught at the university level before.
I am looking for a good unigwan (a hagwan within the university) though. |

Well, you've found out the hard way about living in the Phils, a country I love but know I couldn't do biz in.
If you are married to your woman, you can get her a visa but if not, she will have to apply for a tourist visa on her own and that will be tough for a Filipina unless she has a ton of money in her bank account. She would also risk deportation and an entry ban if she got caught teaching illegally.
Don't think you can just come back to Korea and pick and choose what you want to do. The job market seems to be getting tighter, though I'm sure you could find a hakwon job in the countryside. |

Perhaps she could qualify for an E-1(professor) visa. Does she have a PhD? |

She doesn't have a PhD. Is that the only way for her to get an E-1? |

How old is she?
If her parents are poor, are you prepared to send money to the PP everytime they request it?
Have you spoken to your g/f about this?
As others have said, unless you marry her, it is very difficult for her to get a VISA to come here unless she is from a rich family.......
Also, how long have you been with her? Are you sure she's the one for you?
Are you sure she could cope being away from all of her friends and family (esp important) and the sometimes harsh life for SOME S.E Asians in Korea? |

because it's zachback i'm going to guess she's quite aged and wise, perhaps around 16.
and no zach, it will be virtually impossible for her to come here let alone teach. a good friend of mine is also trying to come here to teach and like a previous poster said if she cannot prove she has a huge chunk of money (for a filipino) then there's no way korea is granting her a visa. also, since she is not from one of the approved english speaking countries she is not eligible for an e2 from as far as i know.
as for your idea of teaching at a uni, since you have a penchant of hitting on and wanting to sleep with your students, i say it's an awful idea. you would probably be crippled over in pain all the time due to the sheer stress from the temptation that all those under aged ladies would provide you. |

More competition for jobs and getting a job requires more information. |
