Hey all,

I've been offered a job with Avalon in Jangsan, Haeundae and was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this school? I know Avalon schools can have a bad reputation depending on the franchise but does anyone have info on this one, please?

I've searched here and a wee google search but no joy.

Thanks in advance!

Look, here's the deal with Avalon.

You are given a shitty curriculum to teach with. If you try to change it and make it interesting the mothers complain. Nothing new here.
There are cameras in every classroom - not such a big deal unless you have out of control classes. A student smashed a clock at our branch (caught on tape) and the teacher was reprimanded even though it was class change over and the teacher had left the room. The students RULE the school because they are so scared of losing students.
You will probably be working Saturdays. You do get a day off during the week to make up for it.

BUT the worst of it is...they get the freaking students to evaluate you! Your employment is based on whether elementary/middle schoolers like you!!
They fired a guy at my branch who had been there 2 weeks, no training and the students gave him a low eval. (He was ugly). He was gone within a week.
My branch turned in candy/choco pie central. It was all bribery. I hated Avalon with the passion of a thousand burning suns and I was only there for 16 months.

Some like it.

But that's the deal.

A man's got to do what he's got to do. Easy grading, everybody gets an A or a B, cheating allowed. Just like Thailand. Lots of cookies and snacks, you don't have to do it everyday though.
