Tiger JK apologizes for racial slurs
Korean rapper Tiger JK has posted an apology on his Twitter account for the racist remarks against Caucasians he blurted out during a joint performance on Saturday.
Once again my sincere apology goes out to all them good peoples, Peace, he wrote on Tuesday, adding he cant justify what went on that night.
According to Tiger JKs recollection, some of the audience repeatedly requested him to dance the horse dance from choreography of another Korean rapper Psys worldwide hit Gangnam Style.
Tiger JK said this infuriated him.
I told them I aint here to make you laugh, not here to dance for you, then it triggered something really dark in me, Tiger JK said via Twitter.
Then the rapper said he cut all his songs short and went crazy on all them white folks in the crowd.
To Fu** all yall who think Asians are here to make you laugh by dancing my as*** off, he said, accusing CNN and Hollywood of making Asians comic relief.
The rapper said he is not proud of being a racist and that the message could have been delivered without the offensive verbal abuse. But he maintained that he stood by everything he said.
The 38-year-old rapper -- whose real name is Seo Jung-kwon -- is regarded as one of the pioneers who introduced hip-hop music to Korea in the 1990s. He is married to another hip-hop musician Yoon Mi Rae.
The performance, sponsored by Intel and Vice magazine, is a global campaign that supports new and rising artists. While Saturdays show also featured well-known musicians like Tiger JK and girl group 2NE1, the lineup consisted mostly of underground or alternate musicians. |

I'm sorry. What's the racial slur part of this story? I think I missed it. |

Nothing he said was racist. But he stated quite clearly that he's a racist by nature or conviction, though not proud of it. Should have stuck to "don't ask don't tell."
Funny way he talks though, is he a mountain man? "I hate on all them white folks yonder!" I'm just listening to "Deliverance" on audio book and that's the voice I hear in my head now. |

racist "remarks" not 'slur'

Maybe Tiger JK should go on and try and sympathize with foreigners in Korea who are reduced to little more than caricatures on Korean TV programmes.
And he's married to Tasha too...that just adds a whole nother bizarre weird dynamic to it. He should be aware of racist media both at home and abroad and sensitive to remarks of a racial nature.
Heck, one of Drunken Tiger's label mates was white as bread 'Mickey Eyes'. Maybe the old Mickster and him had a falling out and its brought out "hate whitey mode".
Or maybe dude is jealous of Psy. I forgot the circle of Korean rap feuds back in the early 2000s, but they might have been on the opposite sides of things. |

Doesn't seem racist to me. Seems he hates CNN. I can understand that. I hate CNN a lot. I hate Arirang too. |

I was there...and was shocked at BS he said. It was a good old fashioned 5-6 minute anti-white rant.
For you guys saying that "it doesn't seem racist", you wouldn't be saying that if you were there.
He started talking about how people are "hating on Psy, but he's getting paid...so f*ck it!"...then transitioned to "F all you white boys, F CNN, F'n white people..." etc etc. Very, very random and bizarre.
It was definitely 100% racist. Surprising to hear from him when his wife is 1/2 black and all racist stuff he claims to have dealt with while growing up in the US. |

a failing rap star, 38 years old still playing the hip hop boy to get paid.
has never had any real money for his work, and psy and the guy from unlimited the brilliant song writer who pretty much wrote for everyone in the kpop came up with gangnam style, and put psy on the map and psy made 20 million dollars off the song so far and still counting.
and this guy JK tiger can't even afford to pay off his mortgage, I would be better too. LOL
but blaming white folks, the very folk who made psy gangnam style famous for embracing it, and even CNN for airing it.??? umm seems very weird to me.
he just a bitter failing rap star. |

It's the same thing you see back home. Asian guys feel like they always get the short end of the stick and instead of reevaluating themselves and what they might be doing wrong |
While I don't much care for the whole Angry Asian Man schtick. There does appear to be a mild media double standard towards things you can say towards Asians and say, things you can say about African-Americans. In their view, the only way "white America" decides to treat a minority with respect is if they are large, threatening, and make the people afraid of the potential for violence.
Of course, there are double standards everywhere and reverse racism against whites so I don't really see where they're coming from. And a lot of it has to do with numbers, economics, and a whole host of other explanations.

His "hip hop" is a joke and definitely an obvious rip off of 90's American rap. |
He was a rapper in the 90s. That's not a rip off, that's being a rapper from the 90s.

Yeah, he should go get some counseling or something. Dude has some issues. |

My comment had nothing to do with the fact that he was a rapper in the 90's. It had to do with the fact that he seems to have copied and continues to copy American rap music from that era. |

He lived in America during the 90s. He was rapping in the 90s. He is no more copying rap music from the 90s than anyone else who was a rapper in the 90s. Is C-Murder copying rap music from the 90s? Is Nate Dogg copying rap music from the 90s? Is Juvenile copying rap music from the 90s?
If you want to know why he has "anger", saying stuff like that might be the cause of it. American rapper from the 90s who raps in the 90s style is a 90s-era rapper.
Asian person, who was living in America in the 90s, who raps in the 90s style is a copying music from that era. Why? Because he's Asian, so he must be copying.
Now, that doesn't justify his racist outburst, but can you not see the double standard and the inadvertent bigotry you yourself just fell into? That kinda relates to what he is talking about.
The dude was an American rapper from the 90s. How is he copying the style if he was a rapper, from America, in the 90s? Oh that's right, because he has Korean ethnicity. |

Don't get all butt-hurt about it. What you said still doesn't change the fact that he doesn't produce original music. |
