Hello guys, I have a question. My contract ends on the 25th of November and I have a new job lined up, starting on the very next day. I was told I don't need a letter of release for immigration by my recruiter, and I am going to give immigration a ring when I get some time to confirm, but I wanted to know if anyone has done this without any problem.

I can get a letter of release if I REALLY need one, but that would mean I am forfeiting my 1.4mil flight allowance, and I really really really don't want to do that.

Thanks in advance.

You'll have to switch to a D-10 Looking For Work visa. That means your new job will have to do the paperwork again. It's really up to you to decide whether or not you want to do it, it'll be easier to find a job with an E-2 and a release letter, but you'll lose that flight money.

I'm pretty sure he has up to 14 days AFTER the end of his current contract to register his new job with Immigration. In that case, his recruiter is right: he wouldn't need a letter of recommendation because he's immediately starting another job.

Edit: I haven't started a job the very next day, but I have left two jobs on a Friday and started my new job on Monday. In each case, I simply had to visit immigration within the 14 day window and register my new place of employment. It was super easy.

One job ends and the next one follows.... letter of release is not necessary.

You need:
ARC
passport
new contract
new employer's business registration
new employer's guarantee (sponsorship form)
application
fee(s) (60 for the transfer and 30 for the visa extension).

.

what Tom said. The only time you might need 14 days is to change from a E2 to a E1. But if you get lucky in immigration the clerk might just give you it on the same day.
