Could you provide a more specific link to where you found this? That's just a link to EFL-Law's start page. |

"...you may not get permission..."
I've resigned before my contract was up several times. I've never had any trouble getting another job. Sometimes I left one job for another, other times, I was just taking time off. I know that I'm taking a risk (I may not get permission to work for another employer), but I haven't had any trouble yet.

I've never even worked in Korea and I know this. If you quit or get fired you need a letter of release. Otherwise you really can't get another job in Korea (legally anyway) until your old contract would have been up. It makes a certain amount of sense. No need to try and scare people. Jeez. |

Although I didn't search the EFL-Law web site for whatever our news anchor was linking to, the point here is that there is indeed "rumor" that Letters of Release will no longer matter either. There is talk that a contract must be completed as to its time stated and that having LOR will not be your "easy out" as it has been. Thus, you would need to, in theory, present your case to Immigration to be authorized to seek another teaching position/Visa if you have not completed your contract in-full |
