Hello folks. Let me first say that I love this site. it has been very informative and enlightening for me.
I am just now beginning my first ever job search for an ESl job in Korea. And, i have some concerns. I hope to get some clarification from you folks.
When i search on websites, it seems that all the jobs are being handled by recruiters. The schools are not actually posting the positions. So, I fill out the necessary info based on the ad requirements. Is the information going to the schools that I am applying for, or is the info just going to the recruiter to build up their stock of potential resumes? These are the most common recruiters that one sees online. How do I get a job if a recruiter is playing filter tot he jobs I want? |

Usually the recruiter fills a position with the best candidate (blonde, blue eyed, and fresh out of college). After that, whatever is closest to a "foreigner".
I don't believe they are trying to stock up, there are already more applicants than needed at the moment.
Another thing to consider is that if they can stick you with a less desirable position, then they still get commission from the school.

Do you mean they are filtering the schools or your availability? They most likely aren't filtering you. They are more likely trying to match you with a school that needs a teacher now. Their main concern is will you last the year or not? |
