|
|
I have a job lined up and have just sent the signed contract and documents to the school. The co-ordinator said it would take about 10-14 days to process and get the visa number to take to the embassy here. So at a conservative estimate, mid-December.
The contract doesnt start until early February, but i want to go to Korea a month early, around the first week of January to spend time with friends etc.
Can this be done? When does the E2 visa kick in? From the start of the contract date or when i land? Would i be able to just get the tourist visa for the month before my contract?
Has anyone done this? |

I should also add that accommodation and air tickets are not a concern.
It's more about the issue of having the E2 visa in my passport and coming early. |

Then the only issues are:
1) getting your ARC within 90 days of arrival (30 days before you employer expects it needing to be done).
2) getting an extension to your ARC to enable you to complete your contract.
(small fee and some paperwork) in the last month or 2 of your contract.
Neither are significant. They just have to be kept in mind as things you will need to get done. |

Thanks very much for your reply.
How much of a hassle is it to get a work extension for the ARC? |

It's a 5 minute process.. You go in with your contract and arc card, fill out a short form, and pay (I think) 30,000 won. They write a new date on the back of your card with a sharpie and send you on your merry way. |
