Just wondering what some of you do with those extra hours... Whether it's the weekend or during the week.

I remember spending every weekend in a smoke-filled bar, downing my fair share of Hite for the first 6 months I was in Korea. After that, though, I spent my time going for dinner and hiking, mostly.

How about you?

So far very altruistic replies, which are great and a good direction to aim for.

Myself I'm researching doing a Master's but haven't been to a gym in far too long. I tend to look up recommended movies and books, spend too much time shopping for good food and cooking it, then ar** about online on lots of different websites, while convincing myself I will benefit from that knowledge in the future.

Meeting my relatives in Seoul. Attending my church for my spiritual needs. Volunteering at my church for my fellow church members. Learning conversational Tajik so I can go on a religious missionary to Tajikistan for a few South Korean expats over there.

I'm a very busy man of God and I absolutely love it. Very Happy

Dont have too much free time now since I have a wife and a kid but I do remember my first year here I was also hanging out at local bars getting drunk trying to pick up girls.

Fast forward a couple years and the only alone time I get to myself is on Tuesdays and Thursdays when I arrive home EXACTLY 1 hour before my wife comes home. You better believe I race home without stopping anywhere so that I can jump on the computer and do my "research."

Dont judge me, it's all I have left!

How do you do a masters in your free time? I thought the E-2 visa was for teaching english only, or is it a grey area?

An online degree program? That would certainly be one way.

And I don't know anything about E-2 visa restrictions, but being unable to study at a local university while on that visa seems rather silly (yes, I'm aware there are thousands of illogical laws and policies out there in the world).

When I was there I'd do some lesson preparation during my off-hours at school in addition to reading and sleeping. I'd hit the gym right after work, head home, and try to get some sleep on those days. On non-gym days I'd ride my motorbike over to the sea and grab a tea or meet friends for dinner.

Weekends were almost always spend riding motorcycle and going out at night.
