|
|
Hi,
I'm planning to come to Seoul in December.
I'm looking for a room from where I can easily commute to the area around Nambu Bus Terminal.
Room can be in Seocho-gu, but if it has to be far then at least I should be able to directly commute without changing subways and buses.
Most of the ads I saw are for rooms in Itaewon or other more distant areas. Rooms available in Gangnam area are super expensive yet so tiny that it feels more like a prison. I wonder if the real 'Gangnam Style' was about living in prisons.
I could find one online ad for an apartment building near Seocho-Station, and these room cost 560,000 per month and they are smaller than prison cells too.
Smaller rooms should have lesser rent, so I would prefer comparatively small room too, but at least with a window and a closet. A shared kitchen to cook at times is essential.
Any help/tips/guidance will be highly appreciated. |

You don't say how long you're going to be staying or why you need to be near Seocho-Gu. There are quite a few love hotels near the Nambu terminal, but they are very unlikely to have any cooking facilities.
If you look near a university area (Seoul Nat'l Uni of Education/KyoDae is just one stop from Nambu Terminal) you may be able to find cheap hasookchips which could meet your needs. The rooms are indeed generally quite small, but cheap. Often, they will have shared cooking facilities/common kitchen area and may include rice/kimchi/ramyun, etc. |

When I was working in Gangnam and looking for apartments, I found multiple agencies/advertisements that would accept short term monthly rent with only one month deposit down. They were usually in Nonyeon, or in that general area, since, apparently, there are a lot of working girls in the vicinity, and some of the businessmen want a discrete spot where they can meet up with their hoes during the week. I checked a few places out... but rent was usually around 800,000 minimum...
They were pretty nice, relatively spacious, and generally well furnished apartments, but they appear to be out of your budget. That area is expensive, no way around it. But, if you can pay, you should certainly be able to find a bus to where you plan to work in Seocho. |
