|
|
I'm currently searching for a 6 month contract to start in March and would love to hear from any people who have had success in doing this. I know that these types of opportunities aren't normally advertised, but there must be some companies that people know of who offer these. Just for background, I will have nearly 1.5 years of teaching experience and will be in Korea (No need for a flight). Am a solid teacher but need a new opportunity that starts around that time. Any advice would be much appreciated!! |

E2s are only issued for a year, you need a 1 year contract to get them unless something has changed. The only way you get a shorter one is if you're here on another visa, like an F series |

I'm currently on an E2 that expires next August. Is there a chance of being able to transfer it to a new position? |

You'd have to get a letter of release from your current job unless you somehow got a 1 year visa with a 6 month contract |

If you finish your current job, you won't need a LOR. You just need to show immi your contract with the finishing date on it.
You can transfer your visa and get it extended for periods of less than 1 year. |

He said he said his visa was good till next august, but wanted a job in March. It's unlikely he got a visa extension to august if his job finished in March. |

Technically, yes, but I was issued a 6-month probationary visa with a hagwon after a prior school was busted (along with me) for not doing paperwork correctly and me working. |

I'm currently on a 6-month contract. I finished a 12 month contract and the school wanted me to stay for a year but I can't.
I did have the time to stay for 6 months though so the school gave me a 1/2 year contract. It's a special case though and the provincial government wasn't thrilled about it but they allowed it.
My school is pretty rural so the staff was worried about getting a teacher who would replace me and stay without running.
Most schools won't need to bother with a 6 month contract since they can easily find someone who would stay the whole year. |

But these are 6 month contracts on top of already existing 1 year contracts, set up as extensions. Not totally new jobs.
That's a different scenario than switching to somewhere out of the blue off an existing contract |
