I have an E7 visa for part-time work.

I am looking to change workplaces. Do I need a letter of release?

The university that has offered me a job says I do, my current employeer says that I do not.

I think my current boss is just being obstinate, he has reported to immigration that I will not work here after Feb 15, but will still not supply me with a letter of release.

I have all the email addresses of the current students. Should I threaten to contact them all? Should I contact the labor board?

Advice, opinions?

An E7, is that the business visa? Who is your sponsor? If your current employer is your sponsor, then I think you need a LOR. I have and F2-1 visa and an E2 visa but I don't need a LOR if I want to change jobs at anytime because my husband is my sponsor, not my employer.

I wouldn't get in touch with the Labor Board just yet, I'd call immigration or go and visit them and ask them directly.

Here's a bunch of Immigration contact numbers within the Seoul area...

Seoul Regional Administration 82+02+ 2250-5810

Seoulgangnam Local Labor Office 82+02+ 598-0513
