Hiya everyone
I arrived in Busan to start my 12 months at the end of October. Unfortunately after just 1 week I had to rush home due to a family emergency, thankfully everything has gone well and life is returning to normal.
Before I left I explained my situation to the school and repaid all their expenses.
I just want to find out my options to return. The Visa in my passport is for one year does this mean I could return to Korea and look for a job once there? I have a feeling that my visa has become void once I left the country/terminated my contract.
Do you think I would have trouble obtaining another job/visa to enter the country again.
Thank you for your time |

If you are American (1 year, multi-entry visa) and you want to return to your old employer then you are fine. Just re-enter, return to the old employer and get your ARC.
If you are American (1 year, multi-entry visa) and you want to work for a new employer then you are pretty much screwed until your 1-year, multi-entry visa expires.
If you are American and were one of the (rare) few who received a 1 year SINGLE entry visa then your departure would have canceled your status of sojourn and you are free to start again with a new visa application (new CBC and degree copy with apostilles required).
If you are NOT American then your actual visa (not permitted status of sojourn) would have expired at 90 days from date of the actual visa issuance and you are free to start the job/visa process all over again from scratch (new documents required) after that 90 days has passed.

Thanks for the help ttompatz. I fall under the last option as I am Irish and received a single entry visa. I suppose I have to work out if I want to go back in the new year as I am also tempted to go back to uni in September 2013. It's a pity they don't offer 6 month contracts |
