I'd like to do some kind of mini vacation here in Korea. Does anybody know of any cruises available in Korea? Possible from Incheon to Busan or something like that? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. |

When I've looked into cruises, the impression I've gotten is that while there are plenty that pass through Busan, they almost always start in Japan. I couldn't find a single trip originating in Korea. That said, good luck. |

I did one from Incheon to Dalian, China. Pretty weird. Make sure you go first class. We went tourist and had to sleep on a mat on the floor in a dorm with hundreds of other peasants. Also, make sure you have the correct visa. I didn't have one and spent five days in a Chinese security forces prison until the ferry sailed back to Korea. As far a screws go, those guys weren't too bad. I could buy beer off them. They also let me have a newspaper in the morning. IN CHINESE! I could hear them chuckling to themselves as they walked away from my cell. They would also let me out of my cell and go to the kitchen if I wanted a snack. So, I would get drunk on Tsingtao and then go and fry eggs and noodles. I actually went back to Dalian the next year, WITH A VISA. Dalian is very nice. I should have popped into the prison to say hi. |

From what i've seen online there isn't much happening on the 'cruise ship' front here in Korea. I'm not cruising on a car ferry. The ones to Japan are super over priced. Going to China perhaps but I don't want to take a boat where i'm sleeping in a bed while others are on a mat somewhere down below. That has a 'Titanic' feel to it. |

Your best options are going to Japan; with both Tsushima and Busan doable in a day.
However I've done the Tsushima trip and it was a waste of time as there is nothing there and you basically have no time to do anything anyway. But it's quite cheap at W90,000 return.
You can also take boats trips to the little islands close to Incheon as well as Islands off both the south west and south east coasts. Sorry I don't have the links to hand at the moment. |

boat to Yantai from Inchon or Busan. Yantai is quite interesting and scenic. the place to visit there is Penglai, an old castle perched on cliffs above the sea. A great town for strolling around the waterfront is a park with old British and American buildings scattered areound, great restraunts inside them. Also a winery near the beach with tours. Whats wrong with peasants , the only way you ever learn about a country is traveling like the locals travel. |
