A kiwi and his Korean counterpart have set up an excellent pizza shop in Haebangchon. They have 3 sizes of pizza. A 15 inch deluxe pizza will run about 16,000 KRW.

The pizza crust is thick and fluffy and they use quality ingredients for toppings.

They have about 12-15 different bottled beers for prices cheaper than other bars in Seoul. Prices range from 4,000 to 6,000 a bottle. Leffe was 5,000 and a 20 oz. bottle of Tsingtao was 5,000. They have domestic Korean beer on tap for 2,500. Their FB page a pic of many beers and prices: http://www.facebook.com/BonnysPub

Very recommended.

Awesome! Where exactly is it? It must be really new, because I live in HBC... I've been away on vacation for a week and definitely didn't see it before I left...

Not at the moment, but the kiwi who manages it said they are trying out different things as they progress. There are lots of places to get thin crust in the area, too, if that's your style.

Hmm.. fixtures and atmosphere are nice enough, and beer selection and pricing a definite plus, but the pizza was decidedly average. As noted above, quite thick and fluffy to look at, but found it very airy and not really satisfying. Toppings were mediocre and ours was lukewarm, which you don't really expect when you're sitting 5 feet from the kitchen. However, I like what they're trying to do and will give them another chance.

Agree that the BoC product is better for the price - they must be kicking themselves they didn't set up in a location like this - and wouldn't go here for takeout when BoC delivers and there's a Pizza School within hiking distance. Note that the fridges are self-service but you have to go up to the counter to pay right away (like the place above Sam Ryans) rather than total up at the end like a lot of barkets.

The "Sports Bar" claim is also a bit tenuous, the TV was showing CNN on a Friday night and it's in a bad spot for viewing from most of the seats.

Want to check it out but a bit let down about the recent reviews. Will probably check it out soon, but I'm hardly a pizza aficionado so as long as it's tasty I'll probably enjoy it.

Nowadays there are some pretty good pizza shops in the general area that are also popular enough so they might want to scout these places and see what works there and adjust their own pies to differentiate or bring up to snuff. I mean, when you've got like 10 pizza shops nearby already you know it'll be competitive, especially when going for the ~$15 pie price range.

I'm not very fond of the Gyeongnidan BoC - huge fan of the actual bar's pizza, however - so I'm a bit surprised this place is getting compared to BoC. Has BoC improved since it first opened or something? I gave it several shots when the original BoC team ran it but it just wasn't the same.

I have to say I don't rate the local BoC terribly highly either and the last one I had before Xmas was the worst yet, although kudos to the weigook delivery guy for braving the big freeze.. the gf seems to like it but i'd rather get 3 from Pizza School for the same price and freeze what doesn't get eaten.

I'm nearer to the original sentiment on my feelings on the place. Was there with my mrs. on the weekend, we split the smallest 8 bucks & that was enough for both of us for a light lunch.

What really impressed me was the beer section & prices, dozens of different labels, many I hadn't seen before from all corners of the world & all fairly priced. Beer drinkers candy store.....

Bookmarked for return, soon!
