|
|
I was am hoping someone knows of a barber in Seoul who can cut a fade haircut. Or at the very least a barber who was trained in the US within the last 7 years. I would even take anyone living in Seoul who knows how to cut one themselves. I have already received one botched fade, so I hope someone can help me with is.
Thanks |

Yup, hate the bowl/mushroom cuts.
Bought my own clippers and do it myself now. |

It wasn't exactly a bowl cut but it was definitely not a fade. I should have walked out when his clippers weren't numbered 1234 like in the US. I was naive to think showing him a brief youtube video he was going to get the idea. Around the military base might not be a bad idea but where? I feel like anyone who cut hair in the US would know what it is. Whether they can actually cut one is another story. |

I go to Green Turtle in Itaewon. The guy there has a lot of experience cutting Western hair and I believe he has worked in the U.S. He's pretty decent and I've never walked out devastated or anything like that. He fixed a bad Korean haircut I got one time, and I've been going back to him ever since. It's in Itaewon, right outside of the main exit on the second floor of where Quiznos used to be. The phone numbers are (02)790-6696 or (02)790-6266. |

I usually bring a picture to one of the 미용실/beauty salon places and the women do a good job. It only costs like 10k. I'd suggest giving Myeongdong a shot if you don't want to take any chances.
Military base would be safe, but it might be more trouble than it's worth. |

I think it's a medium skin fade. I could be wrong I'm not an expert on fades. |

If you're looking for barber that's familiar with African-American style haircuts you can go to the "African Mall" in Itaewon just outside of Itaewon Station next to the police station.
There are several barber shops in there all looking for customers. |

If you go to Itaewon station and then find Cold Stone, walk around the corner to the left so you are one block behind the subway and you see the alley, walk up the block. You will see many Arabic and African people, keep looking to the left and there are some African places that are cheap where you can get whatever barber style stuff you are used to. 2nd floor. Good luck. |

This statement = the best potential advice for most men. I've been cutting my own hair since I was in high school. I have a full head of hair and it's really not that difficult to do it yourself, to be honest. I've had a few horrible haircuts in Asia and elsewhere, when I was traveling, and didn't have a pair of clippers. But, with a little trial and error, it's easy to get good at it. People are always amazed when I tell them that I cut my own hair. I can do a fade, round off the back without needing a mirror, and give myself a barber shop style haircut routinely in less time than it takes an actual "professional".
It's easier than people think. I've gotten real haircuts occasionally, but never in Korea. I used to go to a black barber shop in the US, even though I'm white, named "Ill Cutz"... but that's because they gave you beers, played football games on the big screens, and had a pool table inside the barber shop. Good haircuts, too. My experiences in there made me a fan of black barber shop culture. But, it's easy as hell to do it yourself. |

My friend went to the place near KEB bank in Itaewon. I think it is called Family Hair or something like that. Ironically enough, he asked for a simple trim and they gave him a real army-style fade, haha. I have a regular hairdresser in Itaewon now who does my hair they way I like it. It was a bit confusing the first time, but I managed with the help of some photos to get my point across.
So, my advice is to find some pics of the style you want, and they should be able to do it from there. |

Can anyone tell me where the cold stone creamery is that the previous poster had mentioned in Itaewon? I cannot find a cold stone in Itaewon. I'm near the Hamilton Hotel.
Thanks |
