I saw a report on SBS News tonight that said the 500cc draft beer everyone buys really isn't a 500cc beer after all. It's only 435ccs. We are being short changed on every drink we buy. |

Good god! The horror!
This is like the old bag of chips controversy. Buy the bag and it looks full. Open it and it shrinks as the air is let out, leaving a small amount of chips at the bottom. |

Is the show talking about a pint? Because in the USA the glasses aren't certified anyway. They just look like the right size for a glass. If they start serving 500cc servings they will just charge more.
An American quart is slightly less than a liter. Therefore if they are using American pints it will be less than 500cc. |

With all the decent beer floating around these days, do you really still drink the 'draft' swill?
At least it's 65cc's less of formaldehyde you ingest, so think of it as a positive. But it's still 435 cc's more than anyone should ever drink, anyway. |

I saw an investigative report on this about a month ago. They just need to start selling it by the mug or the pitcher instead of by cc.
I've rarely gotten a full cup or glass of anything in Korea, but they weren't selling it by the cc. |

Brilliant! Get short changed, and increase your support for the agent by buying something more expensive.
There was also a report published recently that shows all the major coffee chains here short their coffees as well.
Quote: |
The amount of the beverage contained in a 355 milliliter cup should weigh 355 grams, but the average amount stood at 309 grams....
....Lucky consumers would get 339 grams, while some unlucky ones would get 256 grams, even though they all pay the same 3,800 won ($3.34) for the regular-size coffee. |

Yeah, so don't buy that chain coffee swill! Pay more for canned coffee! |

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same with the pitchers. I rarely order draught beer, maybe once or twice a year, and last time I ordered a 2L pitcher it seemed barely larger than the 1L mug that I have a home (I have one that I kept when one of my in-laws sold his restaurant about 5 years ago). |
