I should have posted this earlier, and I don't know if it is allowed on here but I would like offer my "inexperienced" services. If moderators feel this is not allowable, then just remove this thread and I am sorry.
I will be visiting family near Washington DC. That means I could go to where background checks are done in person instead of mailing. I understand this is the address:
U.S. Department of State
Authentications Office
518 23rd Street NW.
SA-1, Columbia Plaza,
Washington, DC 20520
If I am mistaken, someone please correct me. I will be doing one or two (if they can't make copies) for myself. I am willing to help out a few others initially to see how the process works and if it is a viable method to speed up things. If it becomes a nightmare and constant phone calls or visits to get updates then anyone involved would have to talk with the government to get their stuff back.
Ideally, I am looking to help people stateside first because if there are problems, then a simple solution would be to have them finish the process.
If you are interested but living overseas, it's probably best you get a friend in the US to send whatever is needed.
Again, this is just an idea I am throwing out. It will be a learning process. If it works out, then future plans could include diploma notarizing and getting it apostilled. |
