I'm thinking of taking a second Bachelor's degree.

I'm Canadian and I'm thinking of Athabasca University.

Anyone ever done a degree with AU while teaching in Korea?

Any other university suggestions???

Thanks!!!

Is there any particular reason you want a second bachelors instead of a masters?

As one who holds 3 unrelated undergraduate degrees I can think of a multitude of reasons to do so not the least of which is personal growth (it isn't always about the "Benjamens" or specialization in a field.

OP:
Athabasca University is a decent place to work on one. It fits your schedule and is affordable (you won't need massive student loans to complete your 2nd degree).

I don't know anyone in Korea who has done one while in Korea but I worked with a couple of people in other places who managed to do them while working full time and they were happy with the results.

It is a properly accredited Canadian University so you don't have to worry about the value of the parchment when you are done.

I completely agree; there are great reasons to complete a second bachelors. But sometimes we have more (or better) options than we think, which is why I asked.

Thanks for the replies and interest.

Many reasons I want to do a 2nd undergrad.

The 2 primary reasons are for personal growth and because I have a low GPA. I want to prove to myself that I can get a high GPA AND I want to have a high GPA so I can take a masters in Asia Pacific studies.

My current BA is in politics, I don't know what I will take for my 2nd undergrad yet.

I'm learning Korean language and I plan to learn Mandarin after so I figure that it's a good combination.

It sounds like AU suits your purposes. Just remember you can always switch colleges if you are dissatisfied. Many colleges will allow you to take online courses without program admission, too.

If you haven't done so already, contact the program department where you hope to complete your masters. Ask which courses would be useful given your academic history. Are there prerequisites? What do the graduate entry exams cover? This information can help you make decisions now and motivate you in the future.
