Does anybody know whether there is a blacklist site where schools post about teachers they've had problems with? Even if this site is in Korean, I'd like to see it. I just wonder sometimes whether a certain person from my past may have slandered me.... |

No such list exists, as far as I know. however if you've committed a crime in Korea, then you are barred by immigration from re-entering. And you are barred from a new E2 visa if you haven't yet finished the term of your last one/ have no release letter.
Such a blacklist could be useful in keeping out lowlife scum, pedophiles etc. However it would surely be abused by corrupt hagwon bosses to a huge degree. |

There are definitely some freaky foreigners who I wouldn't mind seeing on a blacklist. However, our wanjangnims would abuse it as much as they possibly could. People would get blacklisted when they weren't willing to continue employment with a contract breaking, crazy, corrupt, or clueless director.
Many of us would already be on the list if it was already in existence so lets hope that the directors of our schools never figure out any basic organisational skills! |

I think it's important to keep this subject in mind when we're looking at blacklists of schools also. Yes, if there were a blacklist of teachers, your mean, awful boss could blacklist you for refusing to work unpaid overtime or something. And by the same token, a foreign teacher could put a school on a blacklist that was actually a nice school, just because of some petty complaint they exaggerated or whatever.
Thus we must all take blacklists with a grain of salt...but you all probably knew that |

My guess would be that most wongjangnims would just love to see other hagwons getting the crazies... |

True...I won't get into my long diatribe about how I feel about the 'rock-solid credibility' and 'brutal honesty' of many teachers' unverifiable, biased rants about schools, but I will point to this: http://www.eslcafe.com/jobinfo/asia/sefer.cgi?display:1050015372-85459.txt
The blacklists are and always have been a joke and terrible spreaders of misinformation. Talk to the teachers that work at the school that you are checking out, if you want to get a more accurate scoop.
As to OP's subject, I did come across a small teacher blacklist on the Korean language side of a recruiter's site one time, but that was 3 years ago, and I have since lost which site that was. |
