|
|
Hi folks,
In years past, I understand it was quite common for teachers to get visa extensions in order to finish their contracts, since Uncle Kim's Happy Hagwon academic schedule didn't necessarily fit neatly in the 12 month period.
However, Immigration has started issuing 13 month visas, to cut down on the number of teachers gumming up the line-ups for extensions.
Now my question: is it still possible to apply for an additional 30 days - as in 14 months total?
Can anyone confirm that they have successfully done this, and what was involved?
Any and all comments greatly appreciated.
Thanks! |

Yes.
You need to apply for it (either on-line or in person).
You need your ARC, passport and application.
If you do it on-line you need more than 3 working days.
If you do it in person you can do up as late as 24 hours before expiry of your ARC.
You cannot work during that extension period.
You cannot change back to an E2 afterward (new visa (and new documents) required).
If there is any chance you may want to work again then it might be better to get a D10 (50k won). That will allow you up to 6 months to make up your mind, find a new job and change back to an E2 without the need for all new documentation.
IF you need the extra 30 days (beyond your 13 months) to complete your contract or continue working for a short time with the same employer then an E2 extension is required.
