Traffic laws aren't enforced.
First, Korean bus drivers are clearly above the law and operate with virtual impunity. I've been on buses that cut off police cars with zero retribution, not even a cursory honking of the horn. Also, bus companies require a certain number of round-trips per shift, in effect punishing drivers for not breaking traffic laws. Next in the hierarchy are taxi drivers, who all know by heart where speed cameras are located and accelerate like Formula One drivers between them.

Heh Exclamation Laughing You make it sound like a bad thing Wink I got from the northern end of Seoul to Yangjae station in less than 10 minutes traveling at warp speed. There were actually a couple of places where we were airborn... Shocked Laughing and the driver just gave me this apologetic look and grinned even more determidly and accelorated. I swear the spedometer never went under 120 kmh and hit highs of 160khm. It was about 2am.

Wild Laughing

I saw yet another bus accident today.

They REALLY need to crack down on ALL of them. A few weeks ago it seemed like they were doing better at it but now it seems to have slid back.

That crackdown worked pretty well for a bit but I can see people going back to the 'old ways' again. Driving like morons, police ignoring it, very dangerous stupid drivers doing dangerous and incredibly dumb things.

South Korea! Asia's hub of deranged psychotic drivers and internet censorship, though they still a little catching up with North Korea and China on interet censorship.

Koreans are appalling drivers, and the public pays a heavy price with the high road death toll.

I did Seoul to Naju in 3hours and 30 minutes at 2am in the morning and got to Gwangju by 5am. Then 30 minutes in a taxi.

Should really take 4hours 30 minutes.
