Pop out the power supply (heavy) and put it into your suitcase. Pack some clothes around it so it doesn't bounce. It will travel just fine (done it lots of times) and if you are going to North America you get 2 bags of 23kg each so there is lots of weight allowance.

If you are going elsewhere then strip it down to components and leave the case/PS supply behind (weight and size issues). All the rest of the stuff will easily fit into a spare laptop bag and you can carry it or stick it in your suitcase.

Shipping it is cost prohibitive.

Best option would be surface mail but the post office won't take it if you declare it as a computer (as compared to damaged parts returned for replacement) and if lost you have no claim for it. 13-15kg for a desktop will cost about 50k won to send it home.

Other, more secure options are NOT cost effective and will run you several hundred thousand won.

I agree with the suitcase method. When I first came to Korea, I put my all of my components in my carry-on. I did this because it was my first time travelling with one and I wasn't sure what they would do with it. If they refused to allow me to travel with it, I would've left it behind with my friend. It's good to hear that ttompatz packed it into his suitcase many times before so I will do that the next time.

Unless you have a micro-atx case and power supply, I would leave them behind and buy new ones at home. If you've never dismantled or assembled a computer before, there are many videos on youtube that will help.

Strip it out, put the guts in a small box and send it air parcel works ok.
Label it as "electrical components" on the customs slip.

It is just cost prohibitive to send the case and PS that way (too heavy).

Send the heavy stuff (case and PS) surface and mail the rest air or EMS or just find room in your luggage (takes about as much space as a mainboard box and only weighs a couple kg.

If you are traveling before your return home... split it and mail it.
