Hello, I have an e-2 visa that will transfer to a new school after my contract is up. Looking at information here and other places I can see that I won't need to get documents again (YAY!!!) or a letter of release from my employer. My new boss told me I will need to get a LOR, which I answered back I didn't. He said he called immigration and is convinced I do need it.

Will I need a LOR if my current contract has ended before getting a visa transfer to the new school?

IF you have a copy of your contract that shows your obligations are complete then you are good to go.

If you want to try to affect a transfer before your contractual obligations are complete then you need a release.
