Most people do have a Korean co-teacher but some do not. I know teachers at elementary, middle, and high that teach alone, so it is not uncommon. I say 80% of classes with a Korean co-teacher and about 20% alone on average. The NETs that teach alone are usually the more experienced ones but this not always the case. |

Usually, the younger the student, the greater chance you will have a co-teacher. Also, the larger the class, you might get a co-teacher, but age is the first factor.
You can get around the communication barrier by having the higher level students translate and put them into groups. So, instead of trying to speak with the entire class, you are just speaking with the higher level students to explain something and then practicing with the lower level students on drills. |
