|
|
I'm sick of calling my idiotic bank back home to unblock my credit card. Despite the fact that I've told them 7 times that I am living in South Korea now, so it's me using the card, they cannot get this simple detail through their thick skulls.
I'm with Woori here, but I can't use their card online. I can use it in stores fine, but they are affiliated with some company called 'Cirrus' that doesn't provide an online service. I need Mastercard or similar.
So I want to make a second bank account to get a card that I can use as a CC; more of a debit card really. Always better to spend money you actually have. What bank, if any, provides a card like this?
Thanks in Advance.
EDIT: Could a mod move this to General Discussion? I posted in the wrong section; thanks. |

Most banks, including woori offer one (Visa or MasterCard).
(mine is Visa and is set up for electronic transactions on-line, in Korea and abroad).
You can also, by posting a collateral deposit as security, obtain a real credit card from any bank. Your credit limit will be 90% of the security deposit. When you cancel your card you get the deposit back (plus interest).

Actually it's "Maestro", but Maestro is accepted in like.... 0% of internet shops. At least 0% of those most are likely to buy from.
Just go ask for a Visa Check/Debit card (they have no idea what a Debit card is ) from Woori, say you want internet purchases anf foreign transactions enabled. <30 minutes with all the chit-chat and "Me speak Engurishi" as someone put it and the card is issued and ready for use.
Do ask for internet e-banking if they don't ask you, to keep track, though frankly, if I didn't have a virtual machine for that s***y 500 useless ActiveX control crapbanking, I would never have touched it. |

every bank here offers a debit card that can be used as a credit card. many foreigners get served the check/atm card though because they aren't aware that you must specifically request a debit card when getting issued the card. |
