This sort of thing is why this profession is a joke. |

Is it called "Wonderland"?
I would definitely recommend not to take the first job offer. Ask to contact one of the teachers so you could email them and ask a few questions. |

Yeah' possible. I've even been hired at universities in Korea through e-mail (after postal mailing in my CV and docs). But it was late in hiring season and I was applying from outside Korea.
Yes, a lot of strange and unprofessional crap happens here, at all levels of teaching. |

Honestly I think an introduction video says more about you than an interview does... still, I would demand to speak directly with someone at the school and/or a current or former native English teacher. I wouldn't want to show up and be the only person there who speaks English... |

Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there.
Please do your due diligence.
Read the contract. Pick it apart. Ask questions.
Talk to present and previous employees.
Get more information like address, kind of students, the area.
Ask for pictures of apartment.
DO NOT sign the contract until you are satisfied.
When you are satisfied and you have received a signed contract from future employee. Then do you counter sign.
After that is done, then you send the paperwork.
Do be on the look out for the bait and switch. Some recruiters have changed things from contracts to schools after they have received paperwork. That is why it is good to get extras.
EDITED: That is what happens when you try to post when you are distracted and rushed. I am so embarrassed.

I liken the spider and fly metaphor. |
