AAGH! I just remembered why I hate Apple. I am trying to record some guitar loops on Garageband, but since updating to Mountain Lion, it has been buggy as hell. I tried to update Garageband but now I have to use the App Store. After 15 minutes of recovering an old account, it won't let me use it without giving my credit card details and I'm not doing that!
Is there any way to get around this? |

I don't get why you have to give all your details. I upgraded to MLion and have been getting automatic updates through the App Store for even third party ware with no effort on my part at all.
Despite Apple being money grubbing pricks, you can get around the credit card thing.
You have to create a new account with an email address not associated with your other account.
After creating the new account, download a FREE app only.
When you do that, there will be a 'none' option when asked for your credit card. |

I couldn't find the option to not use a card. I solved it eventually by recovering an old account that I had set up years ago. Apple seriously need to rethink their setup, because it is infuriating sometimes. I've toyed around with various versions of OS X, but like Linux, the novelty wears off quickly, and I always go back to Windows when I need to get stuff done without fuss. |
