I posted my CV up on Dave's and I quickly received an email from Sochool about potential tutoring opportunities (glad I can get the F6 visa). So I thought I would go through with this and it would offer greater flexibility. There appears to a lot of work but having never heard of this organisation, I thought whether anyone else has any experiences with them: http://www.sochool.co.kr/teacher/

Obviously the biggest concern is getting paid and whether this organisation is literally getting the money and not paying teachers for their time. I would be weary to work for an organisation that can't spell 'school'.

I would be leery of such a school myself, perhaps wary.

If I were you, however, I'd just sleep on it.

Is that like the extra Z's in "Z Guyeezz" (from Rock of Ages)?

Extra S, extra flavor?

At least you are not a hairy fairy named Mary divorced to Larry and Gary.

Wow, rhyming is fun. Now I'm done.

You will never on any other forum cover such ground in such a limited number of posts.

I interviewed with a ridiculously socially awkward kid in his early twenties who asked me rather invasive personal questions and also came about 5 seconds from me walking out when he hinted at my wife being a racetraitor of sorts. It was pretty much a failed attempt at being witty, so I let it slide.

He asked me to sign a contract with them that would get net them 50% of my first month's take with any students they linked me up with. I told him I would sign if they came up with a decent match for me. Despite telling him I wouldn't leave the house for any gig that wasn't within reasonable distance and paid less than "X" he kept contacting me with offers all over the place that paid as low as 30,000/hour.

After a few attempts, he finally lined me up with a one-on-one lesson that met my criteria (close to home, right days/time, pay, etc.). The gal that I was going to study with seemed normal enough, we met, and we set up a tentative schedule to begin the following month.

She texted me on a weekday a few days before we were scheduled to begin to ask if a certain cafe in the agreed location would be okay for us to meet and study. I got the text at like 7AM, and by the time I was up and around later on in the day I had kind of forgotten about it. I got a call at about 5PM from the awkward kid basically accusing me of being grossly negligent, unprofessional, immature, etc. and that I should have responded in a more timely manner. At one point he asked, "What's wrong with you?"

I tried to call, and sent a message to the gal and said that I was still interested in teaching her and that the location/time/setup we had previously agreed to was still great, but then never heard back from either of them.

It seems like a flawed business model staffed by inexperienced kids, but that's just my experience. There are much, much better organizations and agencies out there to work with. Just keep posting/emailing your EPK around to them and you'll land something better, like I did.
