It looks like my academy is going to finally get me a new room away from the noisy as hell campus entrance they placed me near at first. However, the best looking options are also in the vicinity of a building that is under construction. They have already laid the foundations and done all the heavy stuff it appears. Now they have up foam and are putting together the interior of the thing.
Since I work splits, I am always concerned about getting enough sleep. I need to be near work but have a quiet room. The present room I have is above a cafe, a bank, and a pool hall. Across the street from the 2nd biggest university in the city... etc., etc. Definitely not quiet.
What would you estimate the noise-level to be from the next place. Is it likely that construction will end by 10pm and not start before 5am? One of the rooms I am considering is in the building right next to it, but on the farthest side (that should help a bit). The others I have yet to see, but are on the same block but not adjacent. |

In the summer there was a building for one-room apartments being built across the street from my building. They would start at the crack of dawn, which in the summer time was at like 5:00am. So, that really sucked in the mornings. They usually finished by 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon though. |

i really hope i get the one that is over a smallish grocery store. far better prices than a convenience store. can't beat that with a stick. i'll save $90 a month on bottled water at least, not to mention those after work single cans of beer at 60% of the convenience store price. score! |

I had a similar noise problem (due to villa construction) a few years ago, the law states they can only work 6 days a week, but they worked 6am - 8pm 7 days a week for 10 weeks or so. The only breaks were due to rainy days when they couldn't pour concrete. I went to city hall and made a complaint. I was told that many other people had also complained about the noise.
NOTHING CHANGED!!!!! |
