I'm English. I have an E2 Visa that expires on April 15th.
I have been in the country for 2 years at the same academy and tomorrow is my last day.
On Sunday, I go to Thailand for 2 weeks before returning to South Korea on March 18th to start work on the 20th. (leaving me about 25 days left on my E2)
I have a letter of release.
I have recieved my severance and pay and deposit back. All lovely. Pension and Insurance has been canceled as of tomorrow. As is standard.
This is where the problem lies. Immigration is closed tomorrow. I go on vacation on sunday.
My current manager seems to think there will be problem once I leave the country and my E2 visa is no longer valid, even if there is still a few weeks left on it.
My soon to be manager doesnt think there is a problem, I think there is a problem.
Am I worrying about nothing? I've heard somethings about D10 visa, but I don't know if that helps?
Cheers!! |

I might be wrong about this, and I can't confirm right now, but I think I had a friend in a similar situation last year and she was fine. I believe that as long as your ARC is still valid, you can get back in and transfer after you start work. Just maybe take all of your documents with you to show that you do in fact have a new job lined up. |

When you get to the airport and meet the immigration official, just say that you are returning to Korea on such and such date and they will keep your visa open. You don't need to worry about anything. Enjoy your break and return refreshed and ready for your new job.
And yes, there is immigration at the airport. |

And just keep your ARC with you so that everything is fine and don't hand it to the immigration lady or chap at the airport. It will be alright. |

Hi
So, in order to transfer your visa (and no new docs required), you need to put your new contract into immigration within 2 weeks of your old contract finishing. That's what I've heard. although, now you can merely get a D10 (looking for work visa) which also allows u to not have to submit new docs I think.
You should have gone this week to immigration, I think. anyways, too late for that. |
