I just recently extended my contract with my current school. The plan was to extend it so I can finish at the end of November, but my visa was extended until February. My school did that for just in case they needed me to stay longer, but it's been decided that I'm done at the end of November. My question is would it be possible for me to go back home at the end of November, get a new job, and just transfer my visa to a new employer? If my current school doesn't cancel my visa when I'm done AND they give me a letter of release, can I just transfer it to a different school without having to deal with getting new documents?

Transfer before you leave (there can be 30 days between jobs),

Switch to a D10 visa (good for 6 months) - LOR required

Just leave and try to return later on the same E2 and transfer (Pray that your employer is not diligent and does not report your change of status as they are legally required to do - it would result in your visa getting canceled and you starting again on a new visa application). This also leaves you in violation of immigration law if you personally don't report your change in status within 14 days of the end of employment.

Hi ttompatz, I have a question relating to transferring an E2 visa. If a teacher with an E2 visa that expires at the end of her contract finds a new job after completing the contract, does she need to submit a new criminal background check and other documents again to immigration? For example the current contract ends on Feb 28 and the new job starts on Mar 1. Thanks.

Go into immigration and do the transfer within a few days of the end of the old contract ending (and before the ARC expires). New docs are not needed (other than those listed below).

ARC
passport
new contract
application
fee
new employer's business registration (copy)
new employer's guarantee (sponsorship form)

I am doing a visa transfer, and I have a letter of release from my current employer stating that my employment there ends Feb. 28th. My contract with the new employer is sitting on someone's desk waiting for approval from someone who apparently is not around. My contract with them starts March 1st.Does anyone know what the time limit is to let immigration know I've changed employers and bring the new contract and documents

Before your ARC expires and within 14 days.
