I know these questions have been asked before. But there are about twenty threads about this particular visa kicking about here. It's hard to hunt down the most up-to-date information. (Perhaps a D-10 stickie?)

I'm waiting for my D-10 visa. I was under the impression that I could travel while waiting for it. I asked at immigration and they said 'no'. So I am waiting until I receive my ARC card before travelling.

Can anyone tell us (with certainty) that we can travel outside Korea while on a D-10 visa. Has anyone done it? Sorry if this has already been addressed....I think a stickie addressing FAQ's about this visa would be very helpful for all concerned.

Thank you.

My D10 visa (ID card) arrived the day before my flight. So I left Korea for 4 weeks, and just showed the card at departure and on arrival at Incheon airport. No issues whatsoever.

I was told by immigration that the certification of alien registration, which you should have got immediately when you applied for D10 at the immigration office (A4 sheet of paper, with your details on it, cost 1000won IIRC), would be fine to use at the airport when departing and arriving back again. But I didn't get a chance to test this as my card arrived just before I left. The card took exactly 13 days to arrive at my place after I went to immigration and applied.

ALL registered foreigners can depart and re-enter Korea during the valid period of their ARC.

On a D10, if you are out for more than 90 days, you will need to get a new CBC before you can change back to an E2.

On a D10, if you are out and it expires then it is gone and you will need a new visa application (with attendant paperwork) to come back to work.

If you don't have your ARC card back yet then you can get a Certificate of Alien Registration from the office across the lobby from the main office at Seoul immigration (don't know which desk at other immigration locations). The cost is 3000 won.
