|
|
Anyone know what a good price is for an air-conditioner (including installation)..
My place is MAYBE 20pyeong, so not huge.. I just stopped by Emart and the cheapest price for one of those smaller wall mounted models was almost 600,000
I'm looking to go MUCH cheaper needless to say.
Anyone come across anything in a store or online perhaps? What is the average price I should expect to pay? I really have no idea what the market for air conditioners is here.
Your help and my don't-want-to-be-sweaty-balls-come-late-spring thank you kindly! |

If you don't mind an used one, visit the used furniture/appliance places. Also you might need to ask your school or landlord first, cause they'll have to drill a hole in the wall. |

If you go for a new one than the cheapest brand is Carrier. A 6 pyeong unit will cost you slightly over 300,000. An LG or Samsung with similar specs. will cost you around 60,000 more. This price does not include the installation which will be another 100,000-150,000 depending on a couple of factors. This size will be most likely enough for your needs (can cool 2 decent sized rooms) and will go easy on your electricity bill.

Every now and than you can find them on craigslist. Condition and price varies but the lowest you can expect is around 100,000 (which would be pretty old) for a not too old one you will pay around 150,000. You should also add delivery (compressor is heavy so you need a taxi) and again the installation costs.
Or you could try the used appliance stores in your neighborhood. They are a bit rip-off but in most cases their prices include delivery and installation.
Or you could go on the portable way either new or second hand. There is no installation cost and the prices start from under 300,000. They tend to consume more energy with the same output though.

I got a second hand one installed for 210k, by a guy who had lots of the smaller ones and bigger ones in his warehouse, with the help of a co-teacher. |

Screw late spring, I am already boiling... already had the company call someone to do complete unit cleanup of the unit for this week.
What price should I expect to pay for unit cleanup crew?
As for getting a new one, I found smaller house appliance shops to have better prices and decent quality (compared to e-Mart), but they are tough to find without a local helping you. |

Mind if I ask where this store is? What area?
Also, how big is your apartment? Cheapest one I've found is 200,000 used (minus installation fee) and that was for a 6-8 pyeong apartment while I need one good for a 18-20pyeonger |

I have purchased 3 aircons here, including combo units.
Best new prices are found on enuri.com . Sometimes craigslist has deals (or idiots asking new prices for used).
Never buy an aicon from Emart or another chain. Markup is huge. Almost double, in many cases of smaller units.
If you are here for a year or two, just buy used. Older models are actually of better quality than new, if treated well. Make sure they do not attach an older outside fan box to your clean-looking used unit. Install costs vary depending on how much tubing you must run.
