|
|
Hi all,
I'm planning a trip to the UK this summer (around July) and intended to buy tickets early in order to get a good deal. Upon searching, the cheapest I could find now come to about 1.2mil.. I recall getting better prices a couple of years ago, albeit with the terrible Aeroflot Airlines.
Would it be better to go ahead and buy this early, or wait longer?
One surprising thing about the price breakdown is the tax, at around 800k. Madness!
(Apologies if this question has been answered before, but I couldn't find it from the search function.) |

Presumably you have your summer vacation and camp dates already? If so, I'd present the exact dates you want to take as holidays to your vice principle and get a verbal agreement that it'll be okay, and make sure you let him/her know that you are booking flights now. That way at least you have an argument if they try to give you a four week camp (2 hours a day, I had that last year). |

Not exactly. When you asked whether you would be good to book now I just assumed it was in case of the school schedule being changed later and overlapping with your holiday. Now I see you're only talking about ticket prices (?)
Anyway, 1.2 million is about 727. That's a pretty typical return flight to the UK, even shortly before flying. During the winter vacation I looked for flights to the UK and back on someone else's behalf two weeks in advance of when they planned to leave, and I found a few decent flights that cost marginally less than 700 quid. So I don't think you're really saving money booking now, but you aren't really losing money either. If you're sure about your dates I'd go ahead and buy now and get it out of the way |
