I do not want another 2 year contract. I want to just buy the phone. And they pay for the plan for the minutes/data. Is the monthly fee for the plan significantly cheaper by doing it this way?

I can't figure out why, after two years, my phone bills are essentially the same. I mean, the company got its money back for the phone it gave me for "free" over this two year period. So why is my data/minutes costing as much as ever?

Only benefit of buying the phone right away is you get it unlocked right away, and you can change carriers whenever you want. Only reason people get 2 year contracts is so they can get discount on their phone cost instead of paying for the full price of the phone.

You will not get any cheaper price on data or call.
