|
|
| greetings....I'm jumping ship mid-contract and I'm wondering about my visa option if I do not find another job right away. Can I get the D-10 visa and do I still need the letter of release from former employer? thanks! |

Sounds like you could work another 6 months. So, I am assuming you would want to live in another location and that is what you tell them.
You are worried about the LOR, but you have mentioned no problems. So, that leads me to believe you are naive.
Conclusion, decide where you want to go to, then communicate where you want to go to to the employer to get the LOR.
Make sense? |

Bad news is that under the current policy (started earlier this year), without a LOR or valid complaint on file at the labor office you will NOT be allowed to transfer to a new employer or change to a D10 for the duration of your current contract/ARC.

| so you need the LOr for the d10 as well...ok thanks...I think that was my main question...not sure at this point if its going to be a problem or not...just want to know my options if it is...Does the LOR need to state whether it is for a transfer to new employer or for D10?,,,also...what about leaving country and returning on tourist visa and starting from scratch...will i need all new doc's at that point...? |

LOR is needed for:
-transfer to another employer
-change of status to D10
-allowance for a new visa confirmation number if you have a contract not completed (new visa application process)
Basically, no release (from the employer or the labor office) = no work in Korea until the contract expires.
Lots of jobs in China and Thailand while you are waiting it out.

No. Just released from your contractual obligations and free to seek other employment.
