I have a summer job in the US that pays very well, and I would rather not give it up if there was some kind of Hagwon job that ended early in June. My summer job is June 10 to Aug 10.

I am serious about teaching English as my main career, but would be very happy if I could somehow keep my summer job in the US.

Am I dreaming, or is there any chance?

While applying for jobs sitting in your living room in the States = no chance.
Tried and proven and sitting in Korea = chance (negotiable, slim, but a chance).

Yes, it is posssible, but not common and requires tracking job announcements on several web sites.

I've found hagwons willing to accept short contracts, depending on their situation, but in exchange they might not offer housing.

Watch for "ASAP" job ads by hagwons that need "last minute" teachers.

One hagwon I worked at agreed to a four month contract, housing included.

I don't think it's possible if you want to hold down a regular job in Korea. My boyfriend works for a uni and his semester usually ends around the 20th of June. I work at a high school and the same goes for me. I don't know of any Korean schools that would end as early as June 10.

If you work for one of the bigger branches of Chungdahm Learning, they usually allow for term breaks (so you can take one term off and still come back to your job). One term = three months, but I can't remember if the summer term falls at the beginning of June. Also I haven't worked at CDL for a few years so the rules may have changed.

Sign a one year contract. After you've worked at the school for about 7 months inform your boss that you are planning to quit. That will give the school time to find a replacement. The school won't have to pay severance or return airfare so they can't complain too much.
