im not an expert at economics (infact ive never been interested in the subject enough to learn about it) but i though when calculating gdp, how much people are using hospital services etc. was taken into account?
so if gdp is high, it could also suggest that people from that country have a lot of sickness, not necessarily that their economy is getting stronger?

By that same logic, since buying old useless TV sets is taken into GDP, then a rising GDP would mean more useless TV sets are being bought Very Happy

One may influence the other, but it is not a direct mutual influence and corelation Wink

Assuming they're paying for thoser services, yes, it would be a part of GDP. But no it does not suggest that people from that country have a lot of sickness since one needs money to pay for those services. Countries with the worst health statistics generally also have low GDPs since a) they can't pay for health services b) have fewer productive workers due to illness and sickness.
