If I had to guess about Japan, it would be because of Fukushima. Canada probably doesn't have a color because it was a Canadian News report based on Canadian government data. |

Seems like where ever white people live you'll be alright, but avoid countries inhabited by darker skinned people. |

The people make the country either safe or dangerous to visit. Skin colour has no bearing on it. If dark skin made places dangerous, Vancouver would be a warzone.
Some years ago, Australia had Canada listed as a dangerous destination. However it was a misunderstanding due to them watching too much CNN of some certain whining ninnies and claiming these imaginary 'human rights violations.'
Even dangerous countries have safe places to go. If a country doesn't have safe places, I can not imagine why you would want to visit in the first place. |

Bill Maher had a guest who got shot in, I believe, Virginia shootings 6 years ago. (this week's episode, April 19th)
They guy was born in Kenya, lived in Somalia and was in a few other high-risk countries. Never had an issue - then he went to "safe USA", only to get 4 bullets.
I would always rather go to Cuba and Iran than US, thanks. Actually, even North Korea, if I had a clue as to what to do with time there
And I am not sarcastic, I am quite serious. |

Vancouver has a lot of property crime. Also its very white there compared to U.s. cities.
I am so glad that many want to go to North Korea, rather than the U.S. Much better for the U.s. But troll away.
Brazil is lethal. I saw four murders in Rio when I lived there. I was there for about 14 months. Saw untold number of robberies and beatings. Of course I lived in Copa Cabana and it is a dangerous place. Other parts of Brazil were not as bad. |

Yea, South America/Mexico can be really dangerous. You were lucky for not being robbed or killed yourself if you looked like a tourist and in the wrong area. |

According to the article China is as dangerous to travel to as Gabon or Yemen. And Japan is as dangerous as Egypt. Give me a break. This map is horrible and should have never been published. What a waste of my time.
BTW I have never felt much danger when I have traveled to China , or Japan. In Thailand, and Cambodia Yes I have felt some danger. Specially in Taxis at night. Even though according to this map I should have felt that more danger in China.
Japan and Cambodia are equal is danger. Right? |
Not all danger is from other people, natural disasters and radiation, etc. are dangerous as well, which is probably what they mean. As in if you go to certain parts of Japan it's obviously dangerous for those two reasons. |

I misinterpreted the map. I retract my previous post. |

i don't know what to think about this map. it has japan at the same level of danger for travel as india and mexico, and more dangerous than brazil. and why doesn't canada have a color? |
Canada does have a color. It is light green. According to the chart, green says "Take normal security precautions". So, maybe light green means: Take less than normal security precautions |
